OASIS BACKPACKERS HOSTELS that’s for people full of passion for traveling, discovering new cultures and people who love food and new flavours.
We are doing our best to make our guests feel like home but also to experience an amazing vibe and taste of Andalucia. One of the ways to do it is to sit together by the table, listen to Spanish guitars playing in the background and to try Spain’s most famous dish: Paella.
In our hostel we really care about the quality of food we serve, using only fresh and natural ingredients, cooking healthy and making sure that even more elegant tastes will be amazed.
Paella originally comes from Valencia where it is made of rabbit meat and vegetables but for many years different regions of Spain have been experimenting different ways of cooking this colorful and very tasty dish. You can make it with chicken, chorizo ( Spanish sausage), just vegetables or our Granada Special..... Fresh Seafood.
From the sunny coast of Costa Tropical to Granada’s biggest seafood Market traveling fresh prawns, octopus, mussels and calamari arrive to the pot. One of the most important ingredients of Paella is real saffron which we always use but sadly in many places in Andalucia it is changed to cheap food color powder instead.
The rice we use for Paella can’t be too long so it can absorb all the flavors from seafood and vegetables which are specially selected by our chefs in the local food market. The quality of food is not the only secret to make a perfect Paella but also the atmosphere our chefs provide during the process. Ania ( a Psychologist ) and Mika our Tour Guide are organizing Paella Party in our Patio (or kitchen on colder days ) every Saturday at 20.30. All the cooking starts around 18.30 and guests are welcome to join us and learn how to make this tasty colorful plate.
Our cooking pan is the biggest in Granada and can feed up to 60 people who are always taking tons of photos during the process. So once again Paella Party is an event which everybody can join, grab a fresh Mojito in our bar (during a happy hour 2 for 5 Euro !), listen to stories of other travelers, food experiences and to exchange our favorite recipes.
After 2 hours of cleaning, frying and cooking of our fantastic dish, it is time to serve it!
Believe it or not but by that time we always have a long queue of hungry people from all over the world waiting to finally try this famous thing.
If you want to be a part of the event always remember to put your name on the list which is prepared normally a day or two before it. It really helps with shopping and with making sure that nobody will go to sleep hungry.
When everybody is served the chefs are joining the table it’s the time to eat, drink, talk and experience the moments which are the reasons we are traveling for. It is about to share the stories we have experienced since we are on the road, the places we still have to visit when others talk about their travels and the passion for sitting outside on a lovely terrace listening to that Spanish guitar.
