Live Music & Flamenco
Flamenco in Granada is regarded as some of the best in all of Spain - so dance, clap, and tap your feet. The city also has a flair for flamenco-jazz fusion, making it a dynamic and progressive scene. Rock, reggae, jazz, hip-hop, and funk round out the experience in this cultural capitol of Andalucía.
Sacromonte
Enjoy the "gypsy flamenco" at the caves in Sacromonte everyday starting at 22h. These shows are set in an interesting setting, for sure, and the caves seem like an off-the-beaten-path sort of place, but this is definitely not the case. The shows are famous for a reason, but just be aware that, because it is fairly tourist oriented, prices will be a bit higher. Still very much worth it.
Booga Club
This small nightclub is an absolute local favourite. The music is mostly funk and jazz, with a lot of concerts and jam sessions with flamenco a couple times a week. The entry fee depends on the show, but it’s usually around 5€, with a drink included.
Planta Baja
Popular with students, this two tiered club organizes live concerts occasionally, but always has DJ sets the rest of the time. On the top floor, a quiet bar provides a warm ambiance to relax and chat, while the downstairs bar and dance floor have people dancing to contemporary hits by DJ Toner and Sergio Bastida. The cover charge varies, but usually includes one free drink.
La Chien Andalou
This small cave hosts flamenco shows every night. And in addition to being much cheaper, it’s also mush less touristy than most of the caves in Sacromonte. Go if you want to enjoy beautiful show for only 6€.
Mirador San Nicolas
This is a popular bohemian hang-out with a youthful crowd that can be found jamming on guitars, horns, and hand-drums while people chat, drink, socialize, and generally have a good old time. It cannot be officially called a venue for live music, but it does happen often. Always spontaneous and offering a perfect view of the city and the Alhambra, there’s also a beautiful church nearby and lots of tapas bars as well.
