Unlike almost anywhere along the southern coast, development has been restricted in height and you can still enjoy the contours of the natural setting.
16km of beaches with powdery sand and sparkling clear water. All major water sports are available including water skiing, scuba diving, and sailing. However the most spectacular historic monument is the Nerja caves. Located 3km from the centre of town is an archaeological cave containing the world’s widest column.
The Sierra Nevada Mountains
Sierra Nevada is Europe’s most southern ski resort. The resort is located 32km from the centre of Granada and is only a 50-minute drive. The highest summit of the Sierra Nevada range is Mulhacen at 3,481 metres, the highest ski lift goes to just below Veleta which is at 3,398 metres. Andalucia has a very high proportion of sunny days even in the winter and usually it is possible to ski with beautiful blue skies and warm temperatures.
