Have you already chosen to stay at a hostel before? or better yet, have you stayed at an Oasis hostel before? If so, then you’ll know exactly what we are about to cover. For those of you that haven’t, there’s a very good chance that you’ve been underestimating them this whole time! We’re going to list 10 reasons why people choose to stay at a hostel.
Hostels are well known for usually being the cheaper option when it comes to choosing accommodation, but don’t let that confuse you. You might have heard about the time when hostels were only really considered an alternative by those whose budget absolutely told them to. But we’re talking about the 80s & 90s here. A lot has changed over time; The internet, mobile phones, cars, your ex (supposedly), but hostels for sure!
When you book a hostel, you’re not just booking a place to stay. You’re booking THE place to meet new people, socialize, build character and create awesome memories. You never know what stories you’re going to hear next or future contacts you’ll make from all over the world. We make sure that it’s easy for our guests to come together by organizing plenty oooof..
Many hostels will organize regular events and activities to keep you busy. Some only on the weekend, others (like us) will usually have something going on every night of the week! You can expect language exchange, quizzes, yoga, open mic, game tournaments, family dinners, pub crawls, free daily tours, the list goes on...
It’s fairly standard for a hostel to offer free WIFI and a fully functioning kitchen to use. Although many, like ourselves, can offer washing facilities, computer areas to study or work, common areas to chill or mingle, rooftop terraces, swimming pools, bars and even restaurants...
5. Dorm options (yes, we have private rooms too!)
Some people don’t realize how many choices they have when they stay at a hostel. You don’t fancy sharing a room with 12 other people? Book a smaller dorm! Don’t want to share with smelly boys? Book a female dorm! Came with a partner or recently got lucky and want some alone time? Book a private room!
6. Like-Minded staff
Another handy part that makes hostels unique is that all our staff are well-traveled themselves. They know what it’s like turning up to a new city and being completely lost! This is why we’ll always go above and beyond to give you all the information you need and personal recommendations. There’s a good chance you’ll end up sharing a beer with them later too!
You’ll find a good choice of hostels that are placed smack bang in the middle of where the fun is in a city, we certainly make sure we are! After all, this makes it easier for our free walking tour guides to show you around!
8. Group bookings
You don’t have to worry about us turning you away for being too big of a group, we believe the more the merrier! as long as we have the beds available. (we advise to book far in advance if you can). Many hostels like ourselves will try to help groups out as much as we can on request... from prepping your lunch for the day ahead to arranging transport. To check out our rates you can head straight to our Group Bookings page
If you’re a little nervous about the safety of staying in a hostel, then you can put your fears to rest. We have a strict policy of not allowing anyone in that’s not a guest. If it’s your belongings that you are worried about, each guest has their own space in one form or another that they can lock their valuables in.
